What’s Fresh at the Irvine Farmers Market

DSCN3410We’ve got a special treat on Good Food this week – a trip to the Saturday farmers market in Irvine, CA.  I went down there last Saturday with Delilah Snell, whom you’ve heard on Good Food before talking about canning (she’s a master food preserver).  Delilah interviewed a few vendors, which you’ll hear on Saturday’s show.  I took some photos (keep reading for the full gallery).  I saw many of the same vendors that I see up here in LA, like Lily’s Eggs and Ha’s Apple Farm.  The vast amount of prepared food makes is more similar to the Sunday, Hollywood farmers market, than the Wednesday Santa Monica market.

  • Yippee! The Irvine Farmer's Market is where I go to replenish the fruits and veggies for The Bite Market, an all gluten free/dairy free specialty store in Old Towne Orange, CA. I also stock up on brittle, marshmallows and meringues from The Black Market Bakery, lemon zest herb salt from Mangi Con Amore and dairy free gelato from Lucci's Gelato!

  • Glad I saw this. We don't live too far from there and cant wait to try it out. Always on the lookout for alternatives to the regular stores to buy good fresh produce. You know…a tomato that actually tastes like a tomato

Hi Tom – I definitely recommend checking it out. They have a lot of prepared food (baked goods, meat, nuts), which are really fresh and terrific.

I saw the market when I went to pick up my son from UCI one Sat morning but not until we were driving back home. Next time, I'm going to check out the market while I'm waiting for my son to wake up.

  • Thanks hells, will def give it a go. What I like about these types of markets is that often they let you and encourage you to sample some of what they are offering.
