IMG_2515Nothing could prepare me for just how incredible the offerings would be at Eataly in New York.  In short, it’s a mecca of all things edible and Italian.  Nestled in an unassuming office building across from Madison Square Park, Eataly is, for lack of a better description, a foodie fantasy world.  There are truffle counters, tart displays, coffee bars (which only sell espresso…no lattes here), floor to ceiling displays of jam and honey, endless aisles of cheese and charcuterie, a fish monger, a butcher counter, fresh pasta, dried pasta, an entire section devoted to olive oil and vinegar, an on site bread bakery and a produce market selling no less than 15 types of mushrooms at all times.  Not to mention, there are nine restaurants serving up fresh Italian fare.  Not even in my wildest dreams could I have imagined some place like this existed.  Here’s a taste, in pictures, after the jump…
