Last weekend LA Magazine hosted their 5th annual food festival, The Food Event 2010: From the Vine at Saddlerock Ranch tucked away in a Malibu canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains.  Amidst grazing zebras (yes zebras) and roaming llamas, Angelenos sipped wine from 30 plus wineries and noshed on bites from the likes of Akasha, Eva, The Foundry, Palate Food & Wine and many more of LA’s finest.  A cloud of fog creeped in as the day wore on, but a light drizzle did not deter the lines for lobster corn dogs at The Lobster or chocolate dipped frozen bananas at Sweet Rose.  The only draw back?  Too much to eat and drink and not enough time!  Next year we’ll be back with a game plan…and maybe a chauffeur.  Here’s a tour, in photos.

And a good time was had by all.

How could you leave off the chicken Basteeya (bisteeya) from Tierra Sur and Braised Veal Cheeks from Public Kitchen…both were unbelievably good, best of show for me. Happy we didn't get rained on till the end. Hope I can come back next year, really an idyllic location for a food + wine event.
