Is LA Worthy Of A Michelin Guide?

Yesterday, in an interview with Esquire Magazine, Jean-Luc Naret, director of Michelin Guides worldwide, made a rather nasty/sobering/intriguing/controversial/short-sighted statement about LA eaters:

…the people in Los Angeles are not real foodies. They are not too interested in eating well but just in who goes to which restaurant and where they sit.

My first reaction was, “ouch.”  My second reaction was, “grrrrrrrrr…”  My third reaction was, “maybe he’s right?”

So I started recounting all the wonderful meals I’ve had in LA, from my first dinner at Lucques to the smoked squid and kurobuta pork spring roll I ate at Kiriko last week, and I became officially offended.  I’m curious to know what LA restaurants Good Food listeners deem worthy of a Michelin star.

What restaurants would you recommend for the LA guide and why?
