5 things to do if you find yourself in Beijing

What seems like forever ago, my wife Stephanie and I spent a couple of years living in China. Well, we weren’t married then, but that’s a whole different list. Anyway, we loved our time there and always figured we’d go back again one day. Then she got out of graduate school, we both got jobs, we had a baby, then another one, then another one and life kind of got in the way of our travel plans. I eventually wound up at Marketplace and in the winter of 2005/2006 we took the show to China. Steph came along on an advance reporting trip with me that December – our first trip back in 7 years – and as we were at the airport on the way back we saw a group of adoptive parents with their new Chinese daughters coming home. That got us thinking about something we’d talked about while we lived there and long story short we got back from China last summer with our own daughter. (more…)
