Chief William Parker, at the Police Academy pistol range

Chief William Parker, at the Police Academy pistol range

The pulp fiction writers who created the LA Noir genre had an endless source of good stories in the real LA, when gangsters and crooked cops ruled the city. That history is brilliantly depicted in John Buntin‘s book L.A. Noir which tells the story of the long battle for the city’s soul, between Mickey Cohen and Dragnet-era police chief William Parker. On Saturday, October 16, Buntin will be in LA to lead an Esotouric tour of the “hits, haunts, and harems” of Cohen and Parker. It will start at the classic Clifton’s Cafeteria (recently bought by the owner of The Edison) in downtown, and is highly recommended. For details, go to http://www.esotouric.com/lanoir-10-16-10
