3) Charles Phoenix is among “Angelenos” Premiering on PBS SoCal

Veteran LA documentarist Peter Jones turns his hand to local personalities in his new series, Angeleno, premiering on PBS SoCal this Saturday. His goal is to “shatter stereotypes to present the true diversity and spirit of Los Angeles residents – exclusively in their own words.” The first 30-minute episode profiles two Los Angeles residents who are “starkly different, yet linked by a common theme:” the ever-sunny L.A. pop culture historian and humorist Charles Phoenix, whose trademark is vintage slide shows events celebrating postwar SoCal. He’s featured alongside Rick Morton, “a Hollywood set photographer who rescued the LAPD’s historical crime scene photo archive, which tells the story of the darker side of the L.A.”

When:  Saturday, Oct. 3, 8 p.m.

Where: PBS SoCal

Tickets: On view to the public.

Check out Gideon Brower’s tour of Clifton’s with Chris Nichols, here.

When: Thursday, October 1. It will be open daily, 11AM – 2AM

Where: 648 S. Broadway, Los Angeles CA 90014
