1) LA Forum 2016 Online Auction
Bid on the model of Tom Wiscombe’s winning design for the City of West Hollywood’s digital billboard; or on original sketches and drawings by Neil Denari, Lorcan O’Herlihy and other LA architects and artists. It’s all to help secure the future for LA Forum, a nonprofit that for the last 30 years has been a lively venue for ideas and exchange about architecture in LA, through events, exhibitions, books and its Out There Doing It series.

2) WestEdge Design Fair
Move over airplanes, designers are moving in to Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica airport. Sophisticated brands from around the world are taking off in the Los Angeles design and cultural scene. From top international brands to local emerging talent, exhibitions, demonstrations, books signings and special events., and everything is available for purchase.

3) Pop-Up Magazine at the Ace Hotel
It’s like a magazine, but live on stage. Come see and hear writers reading stories that have yet to be written, filmmakers’ visions of movies that have yet to be made and many other artists presenting works in progress. Get a sneak-peek at the creative ideas that everyone else will be talking about a year from now. All material is new and never published, and the event will not be recorded, so this is as LIVE as it gets!

4) DTLA: Film Noir at Union Station and DTLA Artwalk: Historic Core Mural Tour
Catch a series of film noir classics—all with scenes shot at Union Station—screened inside of the historic train depot. This Friday night there’s a screening of 1949’s “Criss Cross,” featuring Burt Lancaster, Yvonne DeCarlo and a young Tony Curtis, with lots of scenes shot in and around Bunker Hill and Union Station.
On Saturday morning, take a walking tour to learn the behind-the-scenes stories of some of L.A’s most iconic and interesting public artworks.

5) Heath Ceramics Design Series 4: Alchemy
Heath Ceramics Studio director Tung Chiang and his team, along with the help of master glazer, Winnie Crittendon — Edith Heath’s niece — created over 100 one-of-a-kind works (and 100 additional experimental pieces) that focus on the mysteries and magic of glazes. Design Series 4 shares the results of their combined knowledge and experience in a collection of tall vessels, grooved vases, plates, and platters.
When: Saturday, Nov. 5. Opening Reception 6 – 8 pm. Artist talk with Tung, Winnie, and LA studio manager Alex Reed sharing their experiences and work at 5:30 pm (separate RSVP).
