1. Paris Photo Los Angeles
Paris Photo LA was a huge hit last year thanks in large part to its location: the New York street backlot of Paramount Studios, where people were freed from a typical convention hall to wander “streets” and “storefronts” under the LA sun. Now Paris Photo is back this weekend, bringing top-notch photo dealers and solo shows by up and comers.

2. 25th Annual Bungalow Heaven Historic Home Tour
Bungalow Heaven, in central-northeast Pasadena, California, has one of the largest collections of Craftsman homes anywhere in the United States. Hundreds of Craftsman houses were constructed in the neighborhood from 1905 to 1925, reflecting a movement away from ornate Victorian sensibilities to simpler structures in harmony with nature through the use of materials such as river rock and redwood shingles. Stroll through eight exquisite examples of Pasadena’s first Landmark District.
When: April 27, 2014 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Where: Bungalow Heaven is located north of the 210 Freeway, between Lake and Hill avenues. It is bordered on the north and south by Washington and Orange Grove boulevards.

3. Los Angeles Business Council Annual Sustainability Summit
Can saving the planet boost the region’s economy? That’s the proposition being tested this Friday at the Los Angeles Business Council’s annual conference. Speakers include Governor Jerry Brown, Mayor Eric Garcetti and Senator Mark Udall. DnA’s Frances Anderton will moderate a panel on “models for innovative sustainability” with guests including City Engineer Deborah Weintraub talking about the LA River, and Trammell Crow’s Brad Cox of Trammell Crow, developer of Taylor Yards.

4. Big City Forum: Creative Action #3
In conjunction with Otis’ Creative Action program, Big City Forum presents a series of four discussions featuring individuals who reinvent social space and redefine how we engage with each other. The third panel scheduled for Tuesday, April 22nd highlights the story behind The Mistake Room, LA’s new independent non-profit cultural institution devoted to an international program of contemporary art and thought. Speakers are”Cesar Garcia – Director and Chief Curator, The Mistake Room, Glenn Kaino – contemporary artist — and Kris Kuramitsu – Deputy Director and Senior Curator, The Mistake Room.

5. TELOS: The Fantastic World of Eugene Tssui at the Newport Beach Film Festival
One of the most talked about films at the recent Architecture and Design Film Festival was TELOS: The Fantastic World of Eugene Tssui, produced and directed by Kyung Lee; interesting as a portrait of a genuinely eccentric character. Now the film is screening again, this time in Orange County at the Newport Beach Film Festival.
